What better way to promote your site than a contest?

I noticed one of my Twitter friends post a link to this contest at OhSoPoshPhotography.com. Which brings me to something I’ve noticed lately. Large companies and websites like B&H, Adorama, Camera Rumors, Think Tank bags, Pentax Forums, and many others seem inclined to have contests that require some type of viral social media aspect to them. For example, many say something like “Like our page on Facebook and follow us … Continue reading

The first compelling mirrorless camera…Sony NEX-7

Time for another opinion article. This time I’m looking at the viability of mirrorless cameras. In particular, one of the most interesting out there at the moment. This is an opinion article because I haven’t used the camera. I’m basing my words from reviews I’ve seen as well as the general specifications. All camera images are stock photos from Sony’s press department. The Sony NEX-7 isn’t your normal mirrorless camera. … Continue reading

Ricoh GXR is finally starting to make sense…

Even at first look before the acquisition, Ricoh and Pentax seemed pretty similar. They both released cameras that were smaller than the class norm. that also included quality materials like magnesium alloy and an overall solid feel. More specifically, cameras like the GR Digital and the Pentax K-7/K-5 series. In their fight to gain and keep market share they sometimes have gone outside the box in ways that just didn’t … Continue reading

Polaroid back to their roots with digital instant camera.

Enter stage left, the Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera. As seen here: Polaroid Adorama Polaroid has never been on my radar as a photography enthusiast. While I had a film camera back in the day, I never really used it much. The only thing I can remember about the camera was that it was blue and had a fixed lens (birthday present). However, I do recognize the popularity of Polaroid’s … Continue reading

The age old debate, is it the photographer or camera equipment? (Nikon fumble)

I just noticed on Pentax Forums that Nikon allegedly posted this message: A photographer is only as good as the equipment he uses, and a good lens is essential to taking good pictures! Do any of our facebook fans use any of the NIKKOR lenses? Which is your favorite and what types of situations do you use it for? Basically implying that photographers are only good if they are sporting … Continue reading

Nikon Just Announced Their Mirrorless Nikon 1 (V1 and J1)

The full details can be seen on their site. As well as a multitude of other sites. I’ll throw in my two cents along with a few facts about the cameras. The first thing I noticed was this engadget photo showing the J1 next to a Sony e-mount camera and thinking to myself… It’s the same size, but Sony’s sensor is a lot larger. There is a little bad and … Continue reading

The K-5 is back (More macro photos)

The Pentax K-5 camera body was returned from being serviced at C.R.I.S. on the 14th. This time it only took them about a week instead of 2 months, which was much more manageable. So far the camera seems 100% functional. I’ll be trying to test it as much as possible for a few weeks to make sure though. Here are a few more macro photos, this time with the K-5 … Continue reading
