Let's take a look at these unique devices from LLANO Power called the 2-n-1 TurboCell, a combination camera battery charger and USB power bank. I have two of these chargers, one for the Sony NP-FW50 battery and one for the NP-FZ100. They sent me these units to test and make videos based on my collaboration terms. The gist is that they had no say in the content I produce and were not allowed to preview anything before release.

What’s in the Box
Both demo units came with a USB-C cable, paper manual, and bag. The FZ100 included two batteries in the kit with their branding.

Design and Build
The TurboCell has a soft-touch exterior, which gives it a decent grip. There’s a battery compartment on top where you can pop in your camera batteries. The device uses spring-loaded locks to keep the batteries in place. The door needs to be fully closed for the batteries to make contact. The locks work fine, but it’s hard to say how they will hold up over time. If they ever do break you will be taping the door shut to get the battery contacting the internal connectors.

Using the Device
To use the charger, you insert your batteries, and the device will charge if you press the button after the batteries have been detected. If the TurboCell is connected to a USB power source, it will automatically start charging the batteries and its internal battery.
In my tests, a 3rd party NP-FW50 battery I had on-hand had a bit of trouble coming out of the slot, requiring some extra effort. But with the official Sony battery and some of the other 3rd party ones, it worked fine.
One of the cool features is that you can charge two batteries inside the device while it’s also powering one or two external device like a camera or phone via the USB-C ports. It’s got the two USB-C ports on the side for input and output, so you can use it as a power bank.
Keep in mind that you won't be able to charge an external USB device while taking power input from the other port.
With the specific units they sent me, the NP-FW50 one had a button that requires more force to work than I'd normally expect, which confused me at first. It does work but a bit quirky, so if you experience something similar then I suggest sending it back for a replacement. In my case as a demo unit I'm not going to bother. The FZ100 charger is a lot more responsive and only takes a slight press to respond.
Power Delivery
The device doesn’t come with a USB power adapter, so you’ll need to provide one. The TurboCell supports power delivery (PD3.0) and QC3.0. You’ll want to use a higher-rated adapter if you’re charging multiple batteries and the device itself.
The LLANO was pulling 3.4 amps and around 18 watts from my best USB charger. |
One Use Case Idea
One scenario where I see myself using this device is during convention photography. I use a GoPro for point-of-view footage, and instead of carrying extra GoPro batteries or my usual USB power bank, I could hook it up to this charger and keep everything running longer. It’s not a small device, but the extra functionality makes it an interesting option.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the LLANO Power 2-n-1 TurboCell is a unique and versatile device, especially if you need extra power on the go. There are a few quirks, but they don’t detract from the overall functionality.
