I used the Pentax K-7 with a 14mm f2.8 and 85mm f1.4 lens. You can probably see the stark contrast between shots as field of view and depth of field attributes are so different between the two lenses. I also tried some fast and slow shutter speed control with water features, which was fun. Seeing as tripods are not allowed there, I just put my camera on my camera bag … Continue reading
So according to pentaxforums.com, today is “World Pentax Day” where everyone who has a Pentax camera is asked to participate in uploading photos to the forum gallery. I decided to take some macro photos today with my standard setup. (K-5 is being serviced), so… – K-7 with battery grip. – Custom bracket and adjustable flash cord. – Pentax 100mm f2.8 WR Macro with Kenko 1.5x teleconverter. – Sigma flash with … Continue reading
Last week I took the DA* 300mm f4 out with the 1.5x Kenko teleconverter to a local state park. It’s always a challenge, but fun as well. Birds are generally very skittish, so even the slightest movement will set them off in the opposite direction. I eventually found a spot along the lake and camped out there for a while. Here are some of the resulting images. All images were … Continue reading
I went hunting with my friends again recently, but this time it was field hunting. As you know I “hunt” with my camera, but honestly it’s pretty equivalent to what my friends are doing. There is always something interesting to photograph. I look for scenes that spark something in my mind at the moment. It could be the qualities of an object or the overall look and feel of a … Continue reading
Fall is in full force now. Strong winds and leaves everywhere. I took a few images today with the K-7 and FA 50mm f1.4. These images below are in the range f1.6 to f2.0. I was looking to get some action shots, but of course once I went outside the wind didn’t pickup much. 3rds. Curve. Slice. Suspended.
Here are a few of the photos I took yesterday. You can see the complete set on Flickr here. Mist early in the day is amazing. Quite difficult to photograph though: Most of of the “action” that was close enough was of decoys floating in the water: I lucked out with this bird color wise, many of the birds I noticed were far away, or into the sun: Success for … Continue reading
I’ve started trying to really get out into nature. My friends have been allowing me to tag along as they hunt, so here is how I have been gear wise. – Pentax K-7 camera body (weather resistant) – DA* 300mm F4 lens (weather resistant) – 1.5x Teleconverter with silicone tape wrapped around it. My first attempt at making it weather resistant. The camera still functions, so that’s a good sign! … Continue reading
